Baileys Irish cream and Peppermint Vodka Christmas Martini

This is such a yummy after dinner drink to add to the end of any meal.  

Last year I was at my cousins house on Christmas Day.  We played that saran wrap game where they had a bunch of mini liquor bottles and lottery tickets wrapped in lots and lots of saran wrap.  It ended up being a pretty intense Christmas Day game!!  I was a lucky winner who received a few gifts, but the one that was apparently the “gift to be after” was the Smirnoff Peppermint Flavored vodka.  And guess who won that???  That’s right….ME!  The person who never wins anything!

Needless to say, even at my age, I’m still like a kid on Christmas morning and I have to open all of my gifts and try them all out!  So when I got home that evening, I looked through my liquor cabinet, that believe it or not, was not as full as it has been in the past now that I have my wine refrigerator.  But what I do have, is Baileys, because let’s face it, no matter what, that’s a staple in every liquor cabinet!

So I took my shaker, filled it up with ice, added the mini bottle of Peppermint Flavored Vodka as well as the Baileys.  I shook it rigorously and strained it into my martini glass.  Then I remembered I had some mini candy canes in the cabinet so I went ahead and added one of those.

This past year I took a field trip to the Costco that sells alcohol near by and I saw they had a bottle of “Irish Cream”.  This BIG bottle was much cheaper then Baileys, so I decided to try it out!  Well, I will tell you, the Kirkland brand of Irish cream is AMAZING!!  So you really don’t have to use Baileys, but at the time that’s what I had.  Today, I went to the local liquor store and got a full bottle of the Smirnoff Peppermint Twist Vodka!!!

This smooth creamy martini is a perfect ending to any dinner or just to sip on while sitting by the fireplace on a cold snowy night.

Ingredients

  

• 2 ounces Peppermint Flavored Vodka I used Smirnoff
• 1 ounce Baileys Irish Cream Or your favorite Irish Cream

Instructions

 

• Combine vodka and irish cream in your shaker filled with ice.
• Shake to your hearts desire.
• Strain into your favoriate martini glass
• Add in a candy cane.
